yippee! suaku me finally sees nemo + anymoney!

yaaay! finally i got to see an anymoney with a nemo (must be mone[y] spelt wrongly) in kusu waters. oooh! and i learnt that i need not have a hump to be a camel or mule. just need to be careful of "oops drop" and "oops zap" situations, that's all...

it was fun seeing all the cows in the milky way in the morning, don't know why they shine so brightly. maybe we should have more days of national blackout (or just a national blackout day in conjunction with the singapore green plan) so that we can finally see stars during the nightfall hours. i mean, i've been looking everywhere for a star, but the sun has been too bright... teeheehee...

till the next weekend wee hour trip!

FYI.

What you saw in the sky that night was NOT the Milky Way.

That was just clouds. The Milky Way can only be seen when there is NO light pollution in the sky AT ALL. And it would have been a whole lot fainter than the stream of cloud we saw.

However, Orion was more brilliant than usual, and you could see almost the whole constellation.

Now to go visit some bookshop to see if I can get a local starchart, and not something that would show the skies of Europe, America or Australia.

I remember going someplace where there was this long jetty on a deserted island. No lights at all, just clear sea meeting sky in the horizon all round and the occasional boat. The stars were so brilliant they felt close enough to touch. One of those images I'll likely never forget. Wonder if there are any spots like that in Singapore...?

psst! tom! don't break others' hearts by telling them it's the clouds! let's keep them fooled by letting them think it's actually the Milky Way! better still, MILKY BAR! YEAH! :D

wai, there's such a place. probably on top of Base Camp at night... it's right on top of a swa-teng!!! :)

Sadly, Base Camp is surrounded by super-bright-just-upgraded street lights. I can't even get a look at the resident night jar because of these lights. From the honking that the bird puts out every night, I imagine it must be a magnificent specimen. Darn.

A better bet might be the big belukar near the main road. It's a big patch of emptiness further from lights and facing a clear patch of sky. Perhaps next time we can make night picnic there and feed a different bunch of mossies :-)

Tom is right lah Seh Suan, must tell it like it is. We should all learn to handle the truth :-)

Perhaps we could take a night picnic to the WWII Memorial?

Dunno what the light pollution situation there is like, but can try I guess...

And no, I don't think there is such a place in Singapore where you can get a really good night sky.

Psssst....

We see stars all the time! Look at your feet the next time you're on our shores.
You get a few kinds of sea stars, and you don't even have to dive!

Or you could try camping out at some TV studio, then you stand a chance of seeing TV Stars!

Alternatively, you could ask someone to take you clubbing. With a club/tripod/monopod. Then you will really see stars! :-)
