CJ Guides Only - 2nd May
ria and tom spotted a dolphin fishing raptor (corrected by tom and ria) as we were on the bumboat ride over to ubin. and of highlight, we had new guide trainees with us - shirley, ashley and zul.
err. and my reebok shorts gave a resounding split as i squatted down to put down a trolley laden with 44 copies of the chek jawa guidebook.
i posted my photos on another clubsnap thread, do take a look if you're free.

Hmmm....
Not dolphin....
Will be damn lucky to spot that....
It was a white bellied sea-eagle which circled a couple of times, and lifted off again with a fish, just 50 meters or so in front of the boat.
As usual, no cameras were ready to record the dramatic shots. Too bad. Another chance next time, we hope. *Cross Fingers*
orrr. not dolphin ah! :p
Seh Suan!! Bird and dolphin BIG difference. Although dolphins have been sighted near Ubin.
Your photo is very nice. The ship gives nice idea of scale. I think it's a heron, but not sure exactly which one. As a worm girl, I don't know verts too well.
Reprints? We see how. No money leh. Printing books is a big hole in the pocket. Though less embarassing than a hole in the back of the pants :-)
hmm it looks like the Great-billed heron. i've seen one around CJ sometimes... fishing alone, dwarfing all the Straited (Little) herons on the shores.
whoops just saw the Clubsnap thread. so it *is* a Great-billed... :P nice array of pics btw
Cool Seh Suan! The Great-billed is quite rare and die-hard birders get really excited about seeing one of these!
Thanks Jac for the id. I'm just so lame about birds.
eh, i'm also bird ma. birdbrain. :D
sad thing is... the bird wasn't too excited about seeing a short short 200mm lens shooting it... i think it was expecting one of those Great Manly Lenses instead... :p
