Wild Singapore and BWV at CTS

It was great to see so many volunteers at the bwv/wildsingapore booth at Celebrate the Seas this weekend. We spoke to many visitors about our local reefs, signed up a whole bunch of people interested in joining the BWV reefwalks, and sold many toys in BWV's fundraising effort. Even our "Play Our Game" game was a hit. All in all a very satisfying event. Maybe even as satisfying as it was tiring. :)

Wai, must hand it to you for being there ALL the time throughout the whole event.

It wouldn't have been possible without the huge turnout from the Blue Water Volunteers!

Meeting people at such events is quite fun. I always learn more about what interests ordinary people, and the gaps in our outreach.

There was this guy who insists there is NOTHING on Hantu and just couldn't believe the photos of the reefs there. Until it was pointed out that perhaps he was diving too deep...

The game was a master-stroke. It was really fun and everyone learnt something. Even adults wanted to have a turn at the game! Cool!

Public outreach is another key element of our work. But not as fun as stomping around outdoors :-)

Anyway, we get to play tomorrow onwards for a week! Yay!

You should have seen how it took at least 3 people to shoo Wai from the booth to go have lunch!

And she was so dedicated as to wonder how come the end of day balance was OVER what we should have as a total... She was fretting over $1.10...

Yes Wai, you were a wonderful volunteer - dedicated and passionate. Also, a big thank you to all the other volunteers who helped out at this event. I'm sure you guys made a difference to many of the public who came by the booth. It was also great meeting you guys in a pleasant air-conditioned setting.
